Federal Stimulus

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009 was signed into law on February 17, 2009.  The ARRA provides a total of $97.5 billion for education.  A special fund, called Race to the Top, is designed to drive reforms and innovation in our public schools.  Click here for more information.

ESHB 2261 Implementation

Gov. Chris Gregoire signed Engrossed Substitute House Bill 2261 on May 19, 2009, which marks the beginning of the movement to redefine and fully fund “basic education” so all children receive the support they need to succeed in college, job training, work and life.  LEV is working closely with policymakers to ensure ESHB 2261 is implemented.  Click here fore more information.

2009 Legislative Session
