How would Tim Eyman’s Initiative 1033 affect Washington’s public education system?
For answers, join us for our statewide conference call on Initiative 1033 on Wednesday, October 7th from 7 to 7:30 PM.
Email info@educationvoters.org to let me know if you can join in on the conversation.
We will talk about:
- What is I-1033?
- What is the campaign doing?
- How you can help defeat I-1033.
Tim Eyman’s latest, Initiative 1033, is already a proven failure and will have a devastating impact on public education in our state. That’s why the League of Education Voters, Washington State PTA, American Federation of Teachers, Public School Employees of Washington, and Washington Education Association and many other education groups are opposed to I-1033.
Find out why on our I-1033 conference call Wednesday, October 7th from 7 to 7:30 PM… send me an email at info@educationvoters.org to RSVP.

What is deceptive about the I-1033 ballot title is that it talks about limiting growth, when it is really a budget freeze. The Washington State Attorney General’s Office obviously did Tim Eyman a favor with this ballot title.
Adjusting for inflation only allows you to purchase this year’s goods next year at their inflated price. And in actuality an additional problem is that Eyman’s proposed adjustment is for consumer prices, and that index does not tract government service costs like for Medicaid or education.
There is no free lunch. We have already cut $1.5 billion from education this year. Let’s guess how people will feel about the few dollars people might get rebated to them on their property taxes when they see the decreased education their children will get.
Colorado passed a similar measure to Eyman’s I-1033 and spending for K12 education went from 35th to 49th in the country. Maybe we can be 50th.
